What is EonCoat™?
What is EonCoat™?
EONCOAT™ CR coating is fundamentally a new technology, (CBPS – chemically Bonded Phosphate Ceramics) which chemically bonds to the top layer of the steel by alloying metal oxides to non-alloy steel or iron. This process of alloying metal oxides to non-alloy steel or iron, forms an inert layer that can no longer react to oxygen or moisture. Eoncoat is both a primer for bare metal and a topcoat in one. After it is sprayed on the steel it forms a dense permanent protective ceramic layer over the new alloyed layer on the substrate. Assets coated can be returned to service in about one hour regardless of thickness applied. The water based two in one sprayed on coating will prevent corrosion for the lifetime of the steel asset. No more recoating or irregular downtime of assets that results in lost earnings.

EonCoat is designed to protect carbon steel like structural steel structures, tanks, pipelines, offshore platforms in the oil, gas, construction, energy, and mining industries
What makes it so different to other performance coatings?
What makes it so different to other performance coatings?
Eoncoat is NOT a paint or a barrier coating. Traditional 3Coat systems, also called Barrier Coatings, sits like a tarp on the steel surface, temporarily protecting it from moisture and oxygen, the main ingredients for rust. Whenever this barrier is compromised or damaged, however slightly, rust will immediately start to form and spread. Eoncoat, the spray-applied inorganic industrial coating chemically bonds with the top layer of the steel, and literally alloys the top layer of the steel, which in turn then forms a true iron phosphate inert alloyed layer, to protect the steel permanent from moisture and oxygen which creates rust. The second white ceramic layer chemically bonds with the newly alloyed top layer to protect it by a reservoir of phosphates to protect and repair the alloy layer.
Eoncoat™ is a corrosion proof, anti-microbial, fire-proof, abrasion resistant, chemical resistant product.
Eoncoat™ is a corrosion proof, anti-microbial, fire-proof, abrasion resistant, chemical resistant product.
Eoncoat tested on a calibrated Tabar machine with an abrasion wheel, for the measurement of .001″ wear on polymer coatings took 75 cycles, epoxies took 125-250 cycles and Eoncoat took > 1200 cycles, making it the number one choice for Corrosion Protection Coating Projects that mostly result in Total Cost Savings of up to 40%.
In what sort of environments would EONCOAT™ outperform any 3Coat System?
In what sort of environments would EONCOAT™ outperform any 3Coat System?
Eoncoat is proven to be the absolute choice coating in the worldwide hazardous industrial gas, oil, marine, energy and steel construction infrastructure environments. Heavy engineering, machinery and municipal sectors are also heading towards the use of Eoncoat one application, very fast-return-to-service solution, and of course the most cost effective anti-corrosion agent. The OEM and Industrial industries have a myriad of applications requiring alloyed permanent corrosion protection and abrasion resistance.
WHY USE EONCOAT™?
WHY USE EONCOAT™?
With Eoncoat you can achieve the corrosion resistance of an alloy and the abrasion resistance of a ceramic. Eoncoat is designed to withstand long periods of immersion in liquids with PH’s ranging from 6 to 11. Eoncoat is also effective against aggressive solvents like MEK (ethyl methylketone). Excellent resistance against splash exposure from a range of chemicals like acetone and xylene, and shorter term (splash) exposure to an even wider range of chemicals. This fire-retardant (0 flame spread and 0 smoke generation) coating is typically applied at a minimum of 20 mils / 500 micron (1 mil=25 micron) for corrosion protection, but can be easily applied up to 36 mills if required.
HOW TO APPLY EONCOAT™?
HOW TO APPLY EONCOAT™?
A SSPC-SP6/NACE 3 (commercial blast – SA 2) cleaning and removal of dust, debris, oil and other contaminants is recommended for full bonding strength. Eoncoat corrosion protection coating chemically (covalently) bonds to steel, even oxidized steel. Apply on surfaces with temperatures from 5° to 43°C. Apply using plural pump systems with stainless steel lowers and A/B mixing in the spray gun. Matte finish, with a standard colour of white. Can be top-coated with Eon Thane™ urethane topcoat or any quality coating, including high-gloss.
HOW EONCOAT™ PROTECTS EVEN IF REMOVED FROM SUBSTRATE?
HOW EONCOAT™ PROTECTS EVEN IF REMOVED FROM SUBSTRATE?
Traditional polymer coatings create a film structure which mechanically bonds to substrates that have been extensively prepared (e.g., SSPC-SP 5/NACE 1)(– SA 2.5). If gouged, moisture and oxygen will migrate under the coating’s film from all sides of the gouge. Moisture and heat are then trapped by the film, creating a “greenhouse effect,” promoting corrosion and blistering.
By contrast, the same damage to an EonCoat coated substrate will not spread corrosion. That’s because the steel is alloyed and surface oxides have been converted into an inert metal, incapable of supporting oxidation. To see this demonstrated, turn to NASA’s 18 month test Report page 37-40, where Eoncoat scored a 10 out of 10 ( Eoncoat represents System 9).
QUICKLY REPAIRED OR RECONDITIONED.
QUICKLY REPAIRED OR RECONDITIONED.
Typically, all that’s needed is a quick cleaning with a high-pressure washer to remove surface contaminants. Both primer and topcoat, even on bare metal can be fully repaired in one application, using multiple spray passes to match the thickness of the surrounding coating. Eoncoat CR coating can also be ground, torched, or cut without creating off-gassing fumes or noxious odours, without clogging grinding or cutting equipment.
